About Syzygy Systems

At Syzygy Systems, we believe cybersecurity works best when technology, strategy, and people are in alignment. Our name reflects this philosophy: a syzygy is a precise alignment of elements, and that is exactly how we approach security—bringing business objectives, risk management, and technical controls into clear, purposeful balance.

We are a cybersecurity consulting firm built to help organizations operate with confidence in an increasingly complex threat landscape. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, we partner closely with our clients to understand how they work, what they value, and where risk truly matters. From there, we design practical, defensible security programs that protect critical assets while enabling growth, innovation, and resilience.

Our Approach

Cybersecurity is not just a technical challenge—it is an organizational one. We take a holistic, consultative approach that integrates governance, architecture, operations, and human decision-making. Every engagement begins with listening and discovery, followed by strategy grounded in data, standards, and real-world experience. We then help execute, measure, and continuously improve security capabilities over time.

Our work spans the full lifecycle of cybersecurity maturity: establishing governance and accountability, strengthening technical defenses, validating controls through testing, preparing for and responding to incidents, and navigating complex compliance and privacy requirements. Throughout each phase, we focus on clarity, transparency, and outcomes that leadership teams can understand and trust.

What Sets Us Apart

Syzygy Systems bridges the gap between executive vision and technical execution. We translate risk into business terms, technical findings into actionable decisions, and regulatory requirements into workable controls. Our consultants are equally comfortable advising boards, collaborating with engineering teams, and rolling up their sleeves to solve complex security challenges.

We prioritize long-term partnerships over short-term engagements. Our success is measured not just by projects completed, but by stronger programs, more confident teams, and organizations that are better prepared for what comes next.

Our Values

  • Alignment over complexity: Security should support the business, not slow it down.
  • Practical over theoretical: Recommendations must work in the real world.
  • Transparency over fear: Clear communication builds trust and better decisions.
  • Continuous improvement: Security is never finished—it evolves as threats and organizations evolve.

Who We Serve

We work with organizations across public and private sectors that require thoughtful, defensible cybersecurity programs. Whether building a program from the ground up, maturing existing capabilities, or responding to emerging threats, we meet clients where they are and help them move forward with purpose.

At Syzygy Systems, cybersecurity is not just about protection—it’s about alignment, resilience, and enabling organizations to operate securely and confidently in a connected world.

Syzygy Systems was founded in 2024 by Nicolas Peterson who serves as both CEO and principal consultant, bringing over a decade of experience in information security, risk management, and cybersecurity strategy. With a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity and Leadership and certifications including CISSP, Nicolas combines technical expertise with strategic insight to help organizations protect critical assets, manage risk, and achieve compliance.

He has led enterprise-wide security programs across the public and private sector, developed governance frameworks, designed secure architectures, implemented technical controls, conducted vulnerability assessments, and led incident response operations—experience that directly informs the services Syzygy Systems provides today, from strategy and governance to technical security, offensive and defensive testing, incident response, compliance, and security architecture.

Throughout his career in information security, he has gained hands-on technical experience as a systems administrator, contributed to national cybersecurity policy, and developed an interdisciplinary approach through the incorporation of economics, scientific research, and business leadership to form a holistic approach to security. This combination of technical, operational, and strategic experience allows him to guide organizations through the full cybersecurity lifecycle, turning security into a strategic enabler rather than just a defensive measure.

Nicolas’s leadership ensures every engagement—from discovery and strategy to implementation, monitoring, and reporting—delivers measurable results, strengthens resilience, and supports long-term growth.
